“I’ve had my moments.”

Have you heard the Emerson Drive song, “Moments?”  I stumbled on it one day while searching for music in my car and now I’m a fan.  After listening to it, I kept singing the lyrics, “I’ve had my moments…” to myself.

The song got me to thinking about the moments when I did something really special; those times when I also “did what I thought I couldn’t do.”  And I was surprised at how many of these moments I remembered.

I believe we all have moments when we’re at our best.  We’ve probably had them throughout our lives.  But as time goes by our brains get a bit full.  To make room, we pack some of these moments away in the “attics” of our minds and forget about them.

I think the Emerson Drive song is a reminder to us to go up into that attic every once in awhile, dig through the boxes of our memories, and find those moments when we really shined.  They’re there, big and small, just waiting for us to remember.

Then, when we’re a bit down on our luck or struggling with something, we can also say, “You know, I haven’t always been this way.  I’ve had my moments…”

I highly recommend you listen to this song.  It’s not only beautiful, but it also tells a wonderful story.  To hear it, go to the Emerson Drive profile on MySpace.com at: http://www.myspace.com/emersondrive Click on the song, “Moments” on the right hand side.
