Are you ready to be launched?

by Sara on September 24, 2008

Have you ever felt like you were spinning your wheels, but unable to move forward?  Every time you turn around, there’s another problem banging into the ones you are already dealing with.  It’s like you’re caught in an emotional pile up on life’s highway and you can’t escape.

This is what happened to a friend of mine.  Over a short of period of time, she had several relatives die, she was struggling with a job that gave her little satisfaction, and she was totally overwhelmed by grief and uncertainty.

It didn’t happen overnight, but she pulled through. I believe she actually grew stronger because of her struggles.  She eventually changed her job to one that better suited her values and grew even closer to her family.  She became a leader in her church and continues to move forward. I was amazed at how well she dealt with those difficult times.

Then I ran across this quote.

“An arrow can be shot by dragging the bow back; similarly, if life is dragging you back with difficulties, be patient. It is getting ready to launch you to greater heights.”  Author Unknown

It reminded me of my friend and the wonderful changes she made in her life.  It also made me remember times I thought things would never get better, but they did. Like my friend, the struggles I experienced helped me to change in a more positive way.  There was a purpose; I just couldn’t see it at the time.

What about you?

Are you currently experiencing difficulties and feel like your life is dragging you back? If so, keep this quote in mind and remember the line, “Be patient. It is getting ready to launch you to greater heights.”

Note to my readers:  If you’ve experienced a time when you were the “arrow” and found that you were launched to “greater heights,” take a moment to leave a comment about your experience.  It may help others.

Also, if anyone knows the author of this quote, please let me know.  I searched, but could not find the author and I like to give credit when credit is due.

Hi Sara,

I love the quote. It’s one of those quotes that gives a person hope when they’re faced with dark times in their lives.

My life has had a lot of ups and downs, but with faith, patience, perseverance and determination, it works out. Often in a surprising way.

P.S. Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog. From your comment, I found you. I’m looking forward to reading more of your work.
