What do you think this flower would say if it could talk?
Here are some questions to start you thinking, but feel free to write whatever you want about this flower in the comment box, just keep it reasonable in length. I hope you have fun with this:~)
Would it be a boy or a girl flower?
How old would it be?
When you look at it, what do you think it is feeling?
What kind of person would this flower be?
What would be this flower’s tagline?

Hi Sara. This is such a lovely photograph. Hey, it bears a slight resemblance to Daffy Duck
I get the impression of someone who either has a secret that they’re dying to share, or someone has just said something and realized they’ve put their foot in their mouth. They’re pursing their lips in embarrassment.
Davinas last blog post..What Have You Done for Your Blog Lately?
@ Davina — I kind of agree…she does look a bit like Daffy. I like the foot in the mouth. This is so much fun…I love reading what other people see in this flower:~)
[purring voice] “Hey, Baby, pucker up.”
Julies last blog post..What I Learned During My Recent Hibernation
@ Julie — Hey, you did this one four words…I’m super impressed and I can see it!
This is fun!! I love the picture. It’s simple but there is so much elegance and to it.
Here’s my take. It’s a girl flower. A pretty young thing. It is not grand nor does it aspire to be the next big thing. Yet, it is joyous even while it likes to keep things simple. Here’s what I think the flower would say “I am not beautiful or magnificent like my mother but I can hold my own”.
Evelyn Lims last blog post..The Masquerade Play Of Life
@ Evelyn — I love your last line…”I am not beautiful or magnificent like my mother BUT I CAN HOLD MY OWN (my emphasis)” Such a confident little girl…good for her. Thanks for sharing, Evelyn. I always love your thoughts :~)
Hi Sara. Me again. I love what these two ladies have come up with.
@ Julie this was too funny!
@ Evelyn, do you mean to say that she’s a bashful flower? I can see that too. Or perhaps she is humble?
Davinas last blog post..The Morning Muse — Photo Story
@ Davina — You can visit any time you want!!!! Funny my take on Evelyn’s comment was that she was very confident in being who she is…just goes to show you how differently each of us interprets things. I like this Story Photo idea because it’s a “gift that keeps on giving” because I get to look at this flower through the words of different people. It’s already changing how I see the flower. I like this :~)
What a fun challenge! Here’s my response:
“With a flower’s understanding of shortened days, I embrace my moment in the sun and radiate back the glory of color, gentleness, and beauty.”
@ Lori — Your response is beautiful…I really liked your line “I embrace my moment in the sun and radiate back the glory of color, gentleness, and beauty.” This is so true of flowers…their time is limited, but they do make of it. Thanks for sharing your thoughts :~)
Oh what a beautiful flower photo Sara!
Okay, well I see a female, older, very sophisticated. Knows who she is, knows how to be cute, and knows how to be firm at the same time. This flower knows that it is beautiful, but it does not boast about it, instead it teachers other by its beauty to reach for and be just as beautiful. Tag line: “Life can be as beautiful as you make it!”
But I also see where Davina is going with the Daffy Duck – oh that is too funny, cause I see it too so much
Evitas last blog post..Reflective Miracles
@ Evita — What a great tagline! As I tend to see flower as a child, I enjoyed your take on it…seeing it as sophisticated woman. It also nice that this woman flower teaches others to revel in their natural beauty. Sort of reminds me a bit about what you do at your blog:~)
The flower is a boy – it’s name is Audrey III (son of Audrey II in Little Shop of Horrors) and it’s saying “Feed me Sara”. ( I’ve got a sadistic dentist in mind – the one who almost killed me [literally] last October when he extracted my wisdom tooth. )
I’ve got a dentist appointment [new dentist] this afternoon and I’m sure that’s what is coloring my interpretation of the flower today! I keep looking – trying to hear it say something else- but I can’t!
The same flower is speaking differently to all of us. Fascinating.
Kathy | Virtual Impaxs last blog post..Effective Selling Using Social Media
@ Kathy — You’re the first to declare that the flower is a boy and a bad boy at that! I love the idea of the flower being Audrey III, but I’m not so fond of it saying “Feed me Sara” as that be can taken very literally! Since I don’t really like going to the dentist, I can relate to your feelings…I had one put crowns on two perfectly fine teeth…evidently, he really liked doing crowns A LOT. I do hope your appointment goes better this time. As always, Kathy, thanks for adding a bit of the dark side of humor to the comment box. You know I love it :~)
Hi Sara, I arrived here through Julie’s site. Gald I did. This is a wonderful idea. I’ve thought of trying it sometime with my photos.
When I look at this photo, I immediately feel Love and Hope, all things good. I feel the entire perfect Universe in a rose. I feel what we humans are capable of. I think of all the beauty that is avaiable to us each day, each moment if only open our hearts. I am astounded at the gifts we are given each day, gifts that we all too often take for granted. I feel alive when I look at this rose. That nature can create something so vibrantly colorful, so perfect in design and smooth in texture just amazes me.
I look at this and am so thankful to be alive. And I thank you, Sara, for reminding me of this. Hugs, Robin
Robin Eastons last blog post..An Invitation
@ Robin — Welcome! Thanks for visiting…don’t you just love Julie? I’m having a wonderful time with the photography post. Your message about love and hope and all things good warms my heart and I’m pleased that’s what you see in this flower! I loved this line from your comment, “That nature can create something so vibrantly colorful, so perfect in design and smooth in texture just amazes me. ” That’s what is so wonderful about nature…it’s always changing and you can always find something beautiful in it.
I got both of your comments at same time and so I’ll answer them in this one comment. You didn’t have to answer the questions; they were just to get people thinking. On the other, I’m glad you did because I liked your PS comment as much as your first. Both seem filled with happiness and contentment…that’s really nice. Thank you so much for sharing:~)
PS: Although I read your questions above I realize I didn’t answer them directly. I was so empassioned by the photo that I wrote what came to me first. BUT…I see this rose an neither male or female, but a symbol of all Life and Hope.
I think this rose has no age. For me it personifies a timelessness. Although not human, it is very much a living being, one with intelligence and purpose of its own. I believe this being is filled with compassion and complete and utter acceptance. It just IS. It is happiness itself. Pure Joy.
Thanks again, Sara, for inspiring me.
Robin Eastons last blog post..An Invitation
Thanks for this picture. I think one of the most wonderful things about flowers is actually that they don’t say anything. The flower doesn’t need to convince anyone that it’s beautiful, that it matters, that you should hang out with it, or something along those lines, and so silence is totally natural for it.
@ Chris — This is an interesting take on the picture and you have a good point. Also, I think gardeners would be in a lot of TROUBLE if flowers actually did talk :~)
Hi Sara:
Wow- beautiful picture! I inherited my parents ten roses when they moved and am loving them. They take a lot of work though here in Florida. I’d say this flower is saying, “love me now for soon I am gone!”
We share Kathy with Virtual Impax. You have a wonderful blog here.
Thanks for sharing!

Cynthia Christiansons last blog post..Butterfly Landings
@ Cynthia — Thanks about the blog and it’s nice to meet another Kathy convert. Don’t you just love her:~) Florida is challenging for many flowers. I live in northern Florida and just as all the trees and flowers were happily blooming, we had a freeze…ya just never know. Thanks for your comment. I’m looking forward to visiting your blog very soon!!!
I see an enlightened plant!
It is saying “be good”
@ Tom — A Zen flower is kind of cool. I like that the flower is enlightened. We don’t often think that flower might be more than just a pretty face…it’s an interesting thought that flowers might be deeper than that. This makes me think of the book, The Celestine Prophecy, which had some interesting ideas about plants and energy fields. There’s so much to learn, isn’t there? Thanks for sharing your thoughts about the flower :~)
Every answer I can think of answer all sounds super naughty. I’m guessing your don’t want me to contaminate your beautiful blog with my filthy thoughts.
Beautiful flower though…
FupDuckTVs last blog post..Dana Workman
@ FupDuckTV – Welcome back…it been awhile! Oh, I don’t know, my site could probably use a little naughty…it would certainly get my numbers up…don’t go there:~) I’m very glad you liked the flower even if she is a bit on the wild side for you:~)
