This is a picture I took on a steam boat that regularly cruises Lake Geneva in Switzerland. I loved it because it reminded me of a horn. I never did determine exactly what it was, but when I looked at it with its big red face, it made me smile.
I like to imagine it is the boat’s horn. I like to think it would bellow say, “I’m here and I’m special. Pay attention to me!”
This is something we all need now and then; a chance to toot our own horn!
That’s your challenge today. Share in the comment box something special about yourself. It can be something you’ve recently accomplished, are planning to do, or just something you think makes you special.
Now, don’t say that you haven’t anything to share. Everyone has something special they can share.
I’ll get things started. I’m going to massage my feet in an old foot massager my elder daughter left behind. As I’ve never done this before, I think this is special.
Come on, give it a go and let us join you in celebrating the special person you are.
Toot your horn and enjoy:~)

@ Gerri — Have you been to Savannah? I love that city. It oozes Southern charm and has a rather fascinating history. I hope you have a wonderful time and a great adventure:~)
How fortuitous, I’ve got some horn-tooting to do — I just did my first radio interview at http://seeingbeyond.com/index.php?page=archives-alpha. I hope you enjoy it!
I just took my daughter to the zoo without tantrums or catastrophes!

At this very moment…the house is silent and all are asleep. I am going to drown myself in the bathtub in a huge pile of bubbles. I haven’t done this in a while.
I love this red thing! Whatever it is. That is something my camera would have loved.

Hi Sara. This does look like a horn. I wonder how many people have looked inside. Okay, tooting my own horn now: A few months ago I was buying groceries and thinking about Paying It Forward….
I found myself noticing the woman in line behind me. She was very pregnant and had quite a solemn look on her face; looked and felt like worry to me. I picked up a gift card and had the cashier put $20 on it. Then, I promptly handed it to her. Her frown turned into a huge smile. Even the cashier was stopped in her tracks in surprise. This woman told me she has heard of Pay It Forward, but nobody had ever practiced it on her. I felt ten feet tall after that.

Something special. I am not a good self-horn-tooter, so thanks for making me “go there…”
Something special: I love myself. I think I’m pretty cool. I don’t want to be anyone else because I want to know how it all plays out.
Did i really just say all of that. OMG.

What a great shot, Sara.
I can’t think of anything that makes me special, but when my daughter made some tea and we sat and caught up with things (she’s been away for a few days) it made me feel special.

@ Chris — YEAH for you…a perfect toot of your horn. I will go check it out and congratulations:~)
@ Mama Zen — While my daughters are much older, I do remember the challenges of visiting a zoo or a museum…So, I award you the patient parent award and you deservedly get to toot your horn:~)
@ Tammy-Cricket — Isn’t it nice when the house is quiet and you have it to yourself? I hoped you thoroughly enjoyed your bubble bath:~)
My camera usually hates to take anything with red in it, but it must have liked this whatever it is…odd how things like camera’s become more than just a machine (or is that just me)!
@ Davina — That’s the nicest thing I’ve heard in a long time and you should feel like TEN FEET tall:~)
@ Molly — This is one of the best ways to “toot your horn.” Knowing that you love yourself and that you are COOL is special. And YES you really did say that…so be proud of it as you should be:~)
@ Talon — I think it’s special whenever you get to share with a daughter (and the daughter wants to share with you):~) As I have two daughters, I know exactly what I’m talking about.
Sara, I cannot hear the words Lake and Geneva without bursting into that Chris DeBurg song… like this, so let me get this out of my system…
We took a boat over Lake Geneva.
It was raining all night long,
We were lucky and we saw no enemy,
And came from Switzerland poor refugees,
Far from the guns of war,
We said goodbye to it all
“Say Good Bye To It All.” Do you know the song? I think it’s my favorite of all time.
Do you like Chris DeBurg? OMG I LOVED that “Into The Light” album.
Now, what was your question?
Oh, yes, special about me? I can make anything into a song! And I’m a good pie crust chef.
xo
