My cat
This is a picture of my cat, Aggie. She likes to sit in this empty fountain and peek out. She looks kind of thoughtful in this picture, don’t you think? This isn’t a common pose or look for Aggie. It’s really hard to catch Aggie in a thoughtful moment. Most of the time, she’s just too busy or too tired.
Safe cat
In this photo, she’s on my back porch, which is as close to the real outside that Aggie is allowed to get. When I adopted her, I agreed that she would be always be an inside cat, a recommendation of the Humane Society because it keeps cats safe and extends their lives.
Therefore, Aggie spends most of her day on the porch, which I’ve named Aggie’s Serengeti. From behind the porch screen, she enjoys stalking the birds that fly to and from the feeder and avidly watching the various other creatures that come to visit.
Scaredy cat
She really loves to be out on the porch and usually comes in only for food, water, or the bathroom and not in that order. Well, that’s not exactly true.
She also will plaster herself against the door and meow pitifully to come inside if there’s a thunderstorm, someone is mowing their yard, or the kids next door are playing. You see, Aggie is a bit scaredy cat, but I love her.
On the other hand, she thinks of herself as the “Great Tabby Hunter.” Each time I open the door to Aggie’s Serengeti, she runs out ready to conquer the world and find a new adventures!

I think she’s about to leap out at the photographer and scratch her eyes out, meowling something about “danged paparazzi” or something like that… :p
Not that I would wish anything like that upon you, Sara.

@ Tony — Since I’m the photographer, all I can say is “OUCH!” You are right, however, that Aggie does HATE to have her picture taken, especially when she’s in Aggie’s Serengeti:~)
Oh Sara, she is so cute and I love your whole description of her. I was going to say she is going to pounce, but given the “scaredy cat” part, which is so cute by the way, I am going to say that she is going to stay where she is and just start meowing for more attention or just out of annoyance for having her photo taken
Well, I think she is saying “I’m still waiting for the water here, Mom.”
And next she jumps at a butterfly but misses, so goes in the house and munchies some kitty foods.

“Haven’t you got anything better to do that take my picture? You know just how much I dislike that camera. I am hiding here to surprise the next interloper and truly release my hunter spirit. Now if you don’t mind, would you please stop blowing my cover?”
Good to be safety cat. Our neighborhood has lost at least 8 cats to the coyotes this summer so far…and the baby ducks at the lake were numerous and are now few…Thanks Sara, fun thinking today

Hi Sara. She’s such a cute kittie. When they look at you like this it’s as if they can see right through you. I think she is about to yawn and casually dismiss you. It’s nap time and you are in her space.
Lol, I loved Tony’s comment

Since you said that she is a bit of a “scaredy” cat, I would assume that she does nothing more than sit and watch you carefully. Hey…it seems that my thoughts are pretty similar to some of the other bloggers!

@ Evita — She is a mixture. She truly does have the heart of Tiger and I’ve no doubt that if she was outside, I might have some unpleasant things left at my door.
On the other hand, she definitely has her scaredy cat moments. Fortunately, I work at home and am willing to be the “door opener” as long as I occasionally get the sweet Aggie who sits in my lap and purrs:~)
@ Jannie — I don’t know about the water thing. For being a tiny cat, she really doesn’t like water. The one time I tried to give her bath, I felt like I had a monster in my hands. I now take her to groomer when she needs a bath…it keep us both sane:~)
@ Patricia — You hit the nail on the head. Aggie hates pictures. You’re also right about the cover. When she’s in the fountain, she thinks she’s invisible.
Thanks for mentioning about the safe cat policy. Beyond the many dangers to an outside cat, such as other animals and cars, cats can be dangerous to each other. Cats are very territorial animals and they will fight each other. Cat bites often get infected and can kill a cat if not treated.
Okay, I’m the off the soap box. Thanks very much for your comment:~)
@ Davina — You’re right. When Aggie’s out on the porch, the porch is HER territory. She allows JC and I to sit out there, but she doesn’t usually interact with us when we’re there. She just climbs her rug tree and stares at us:~)
Also, don’t you love Tony Single. Tony and Cassy always come up with something funny. I adore Trottersville and encourage people to visit their site at http://trottersville.blogspot.com/:~)
@ Evelyn — Well, she likes me to be around to open the door when something scares her, but she really thinks she is a GREAT HUNTER with NO fear. It’s a bit schizophrenic, but that’s Aggie for you:~)
she looks ready to pounce!
Ribbon´s last blog ..thoughts…
Aggie is gorgeous! She reminds me a lot of my tabby, Stripey.
To me it’s like she’s saying, “Excuse me! Can you stop with the picture taking? How’s a cat supposed to hunt with paparazzi stalking them?”

She looks ready to leap out of there and jump on you…lol. She is a cute little kitty. I found that cats can be very unpredictable…never know what they might do next…

@ Ribbon — You never know with Aggie, especially when you put a camera in her face:~)
@ Talon — That’s about it. Unfortunately, for Aggie…her paparazzi is a very determined person who likes to stalk her cat…
@ Caroline — I’m so glad she didn’t because sometimes Aggie forgets that cat claws are retractable, but she’s actually very kindhearted:~)
She is obviously plotting world domination.
My cats like to sit in cardboard boxes. I love animals!
