“He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog.
You are his life, his love, his leader.
He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart.
You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion”

This is a picture of Georgia. She is the companion and friend of my youngest daughter, Carrie, who took this picture.
In the picture, Georgia is looking out into the pastures of a horse stable where Carrie and Georgia work. Well, Carrie does most of the hard work, but Georgia is always by her side.
Adoption dog
Georgia was an adoption dog. She came to Carrie when she was about 7-months old after being abandoned on a very busy highway. God was watching over her that day and she was luckily rescued.
When Carrie was looking for a dog to adopt, she found Georgia’s picture at a Schnauzer rescue organization on the Internet. She and her sister drove to the place, saw Georgia, and it was true love at first site.
Best dog friend
Georgia has lived with Carrie for 7 years now. She goes almost everywhere with my daughter; to the barn, Carrie’s Ultimate Frisbee games (her favorite sport to play), and basically anywhere a dog can hang out with her best friend.
Georgia is part Standard Schnauzer and something else. Whatever the combination is, she is a quirky and very independent dog with a definite mind of her own…not unlike my youngest daughter.
For this week’s picture story challenge, I asked Carrie if I could use this picture. I like it because it captures Georgia in a quiet, contemplative mood that makes you wonder what she’s thinking about as she looks out into the pasture.
Picture Story Challenge
What do you think Georgia is pondering? If she could speak “human,” what do you think she’d say to you?
Please share your thoughts about this in the comment box.

Love this. What an adorable pup!

@ Dani — Thank you for the comment. She IS an adorable dog, but one that can test the patience of daughter now and then. However, she’s not quite as cute as my dog.
p.s. I have to careful as Miss Dix, my dog, tends to get a bit jealous:~)
I really don’t know. But she does seem peaceful, relaxed and contemplative. I think she would tell me it’s ok to slow down – now, there’s a projection!
.-= Carol´s last blog ..Stress Eating Warning! =-.
@ Carol — As Standard Schnauzer’s are dogs trained to keep those they watch safe, your thoughts about what she would say are very accurate. I hope you trust her and take time today to slow down. Thanks, as always, for your comment:~)
Probably singing these lyrics in her mind…
“I see trees of green…….. red roses too
I see em bloom….. for me and for you
And I think to myself…. what a wonderful world.
I see skies of blue….. clouds of white
Bright blessed days….dark sacred nights
And I think to myself …..what a wonderful world.
The colors of a rainbow…..so pretty ..in the sky
Are also on the faces…..of people ..going by
I see friends shaking hands…..sayin.. how do you do
Theyre really sayin……i love you.
I hear babies cry…… I watch them grow
Theyll learn much more…..than Ill never know
And I think to myself …..what a wonderful world”
And maybe hoping for steak later on?
That opening quote is so beautiful, Sara, it made me cry. I have 2 dogs.

@ Jannie — YOU ARE SO FUNNY:~) I loved this, especially the steak later on! This quote is one of my favorites too. Some day, you’ll have to tell me about your dogs. I love hearing about pets and their people. Thanks for the comment Jannie!
Georgia is lovely. I have two dogs and it’s a rare moment to catch them in contemplation (especially Charlie, the labradoodle who should really be called a goofy-doodle).
It looks like Georgia is relaxing after a busy day, ears pricked and listening to pleasant sounds that tell her she’s safe and she’s home. Of course, she could be humming Louis Armstrong’s song like Jannie suggested

@ Talon — I’ve heard that labradoodles are very ACTIVE dogs, but that they can be lots of fun. I like your idea of Georgia relaxing. It doesn’t happen too often when she’s outside. As she’s a herd watch dog, meaning she’s not meant to “herd” the sheep or whatever, but rather protect them, she’s usually checking things out around the pastures or following Carrie. But in this picture she does look content and safe, doesn’t she?
I think she is enjoying the “still”.
.-= Gerri´s last blog ..Gratefulness Week-27 =-.
@ Gerri — As Carrie keeps her very busy, it’s nice for to think that Georgie has time to lie down enjoy the “still” every now and then. Thanks for your comment:~)
Aww, what a lovely story. How fortunate Georgia was on that day. She is probably thinking, “What a different view I see right now than I did all those years ago on that highway.”
.-= Caity´s last blog ..Fun days with fun friends. =-.
@ Caity — There are occasions when it seems Georgia remembers being abandoned. She’s still terrified of cars and has a hard time when she first meets men, but I like your thought. This does seem to be a moment when Georgia seems very content and happy with her life. Thank you so much comment, Caity:~)
I think Georgia is looking out over the field and appreciating the peace and stillness of the moment. Carrie and Georgia are a match made in heaven.
Btw, I LOVED the words about dogs by an unknown author….so very true.
.-= Serena´s last blog ..the artist’s way – week two & check-in =-.
@ Serena — I know that’s a great quote isn’t it. It’s perfect for anyone who’s ever loved a dog!!! What you said about Georgia is probably true, especially the part about Carrie and Georgia being a match made in heaven:~)
I think Georgia is looking out & wondering when the other puppies will be let out…I asked her what she was thinking, but she walked away & laid down by the door, so I don’t think she wanted to share her thoughts with me (typical Georgia) However, she enjoyed hearing the post – I read the whole thing to her, then she went off to think about it I think.
Beautiful, & truly captures Georgia I think =)
@ Carrie — You took a lovely picture of a wonderful dog. I think you and Georgia are quite the pair and I’m ever so glad you found each other:~)
I think what said about Georgia is probably very accurate. Georgia loves to take her time with most things. I also imagine the puppies coming to play might be a bit more important than getting her picture published. On the other hand, I thank you for sharing her with us!
Well, Peachy (or just plain Peach) is our 12 year old shih-tzu, we’ve had her since she was 6 week sold, and her dad Chance, God rest his soul, was her dad and we had him for 11 years until some big dog or coyote ravaged him.
We also have Sweetie our 4-yer-old dacshund, had him from 8 weeks old. He is the chow hound and loves to steal any and all food he can find. He’s a good dog tho.
And our cat rules the roost.

@ Jannie — I love hearing about your dogs. WOW…I caught you in a “Bord on the Wire” moment….so Peachy was 6 weeks SOLD when you got her:~) That’s really sad about Chance:~( Fortunately, we don’t have coyotes where I live, but we do occasionally get the aggressive dog. I love dachshunds — we used to have one when I was kid. When I was a baby, she was my best friend. I used to crawl after her, but one time my parents found me eating out of her bowl and feared I believed I was her puppy. After that, they sort of kept me away from the dog until I was walking:~)
Hi Sara,
I LOVE the photo. I think he’s saying “This is the life. I’m so lucky to have a master like Carrie”.
We have two dogs. One named “Dog” we got as a pup and the other one we rescued from one of our job sites. When we took her to the vet we were told she was terribly abused. She’s now about 13. She is nearly blind and deaf, is getting crippled up, doesn’t bark (we believe her previous owner used a shock collar on her), but she is the sweetest thing. We named her Lucky.
@ Barbara — I don’t know if Georgia actually considers Carrie a master. Georgia is a very interesting dog. If you believe in old souls, I think there’s one living in Georgia. I love the story of Lucky and what a perfect name. She is very lucky to have ended up with your family. Her angel must have known that it was the right place for her:~)
