Hugs to you
Ever have one of those weeks when everything seems to go wrong? Well, that’s been the case for me. In addition, I’ve not been feeling well and when I don’t feel well, neither does my muse Izzy. So, I haven’t been able to write and that’s always frustrating.
I did what I usually do and turned to my “works in progress” file. Unfortunately, the bits and pieces in it will remain “in progress” as I couldn’t seem to get one to move forward – perhaps this is a reflection of where I’m at right now!
So, I did what most bloggers do and started to search for something to post. I found something that did more than I expected.
I’ve been wanting to post a video on my blog and decided this would be a good time for it. Almost immediately I found a YouTube video that I knew would be perfect.
Not only did I find something I believe you will like, but it helped me as well. The universe does work in amazing ways!
There were tears in my eyes while watching this video. I realized it was exactly what I needed during this difficult week… a hug.
If you have seen this video already, it’s worth another viewing. Everyone needs a hug now and then.
p.s. I had never heard of the band “Sick Puppies” and given their name, would probably not have listened to this song if it wasn’t for the video. It reminded me to look past labels and not make hasty judgments about things:~)
I looked up the lyrics of the song, All the Same and after reading them realized they can be interpreted in different ways. I see it as a song of acceptance of a difficult relationship.
How do you see it?

Taking care of myself
After my trip, I’ve been totally exhausted and that’s made me realize that I need to take better care of myself. Therefore, I’m taking a brief blogging break starting Monday, but it will only be for a week! JC and I managed to scrape together enough time and money to make a trip to our favorite beach.
Therefore, there will be no posts up for next week. I will be back…hopefully fully healthy and eager to visit and chat with everyone on Monday, October 12th…and I will have a photo story post up that day. I appreciate everyone’s support:~)

Sara,
Sending big hugs your way…
And although I’ve watched this video before, it’s one I never tire of seeing – and so it’s so good to have watched it again today, and to experience that humanity shining through!
Peace,
Lance

My mother always says a change is as good as a rest. Enjoy your time at the beach, Sara. Soak up tons of sun and rejuvanate your spirit. Sending you a huge virtual hug!
I’ve seen that video a few times and this time I just listened to the lyrics. It reminds me that the times I’ve wanted to run away, the people I love will always be waiting for me when I return. And maybe it’s really true that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

@ Lance — You are always so kind, Lance. Whenever I read your comments on my site and on other blogs, you always take the time to say something comforting. Thank you and I DO appreciate the hugs:~)
@ Talon — I am enjoying the “virtual hug!” That’s what I love so much about the blogging community, it is so supportive…even more so than family and friends sometimes. Amazing that this is so since we usually only have contact through our words. Yet, there is an energy…maybe a better word is synergy…that comes with blogging and our sharing of our selves with each other. I am very grateful that I found blogging and this community I’m in.
Good point about the lyrics of the song. We all need people who stay with us through thick and thin. I believe they are the special people sent to help us stay steady as we learn our life lessons:~)
That video made me laugh and cry too.
Never heard of the Sick Puppies.
HUGS, HUGS, HUGS!! Did you feel those???
Hope you enjoyed your break — we all need those, even if just down to the bookstore in the afternooon to browse and relax in one of those big cushy chairs with a decaf and a muffin. I might just do that later today!

I am picking up a bushel of hugs tomorrow on my post…I promise to pass them on, and here is a virtual one right now!

Hi, Sara. That video was so warm and bittersweet, too. It tugged at my heartstrings—in opposite directions. Oh, please immerse yourself in your break and don’t add any more pressure onto yourself by thinking you must post anything on a certain schedule. Just give yourself permission to do whatever feels right; go with the flow and if the “going” takes longer than you expect, that’s okay, too. As you sense, the release will will do you good. Enjoy your trip. Hugs, many hugs, from me to you. ~Julie

Usually gangstas don’t hug, but i will make an exception today. What an inspiring post. Imagine is we had world peace??? Man on man, i guess i m falling into deep dreaming slumber again. This really made my day today Sara. This video shows that we all need to be hugged once and a while. We are all human, plus all the same on the inside. ( Free Hug!)
By all means keep it gangsta as long as its Positive.

That is a great video. I think more people need to be like that. It reminds me of a video of a guy who bicycled around NYC hi-fiving people who were hailing cabs. It made them smile because they didn’t expect the cyclist to give them a hi-five. Little things like that can make us all smile.
I’m sorry things haven’t been going your way lately. I hope they get better soon.

Thanks for this Sara. I hope you get a chance to curl up like your snuggly cat and dog.
This video certainly has me smiling! Who can’t use a hug now and then — or more often!? And the price was right –free! How nice if we could all be more gentle, more caring towards others! Hope you and JC have a great break! I love the beach for reaching inside, to get back in touch with whatever I feel lacking at the moment — enjoy the salt air, the sound of the waves, the wind on your face! Drink it all in! Naomi
This past week was one of those weeks I could have used a hug! I received a “free hug” a couple weeks ago and it really does make a difference. You don’t have to know each other and the giver doesn’t have to know why you need a hug. During those moments, nothing else matters.

Sara, I admit that I didn’t look at the video as I’m still on dinosaur dial-up (I know, behind the times or what?), but I have read the lyrics. Moving. This is a relationship sketched out in words, and the words are indeed like a hug.
It’s kind of spooky really. Here I was just having completed my newest post which, aside from the usual strip, also contains a hopeful poem that I wrote during a time when I was just a raw emotion groping in the dark. And then I come across this on your blog… well, “coincidences” like this make me smile to myself is all.

Hi Sara. The beach is waiting for you!
I’m so glad you shared this video and song. I’ve listened to the song at least a half dozen times. Very moving piece. Enjoy your time at the beach. Hugs to you…

Sara,
I have been dealing with creative blocks lately too and, while working through The Artist’s Way and The Joy Diet this past week, I realised that I had been trying to force my creativity to flow a certain way instead of letting it flow freely…..made a world of difference for me.
I hope you come back from your trip to the beach feeling rejuvenated and refreshed. I know the beach always has a healing affect on me so I hope it works for you too. Here’s a (((Hug))) for you ~
love, light and peace,

@ Jannie — I always feel your hugs!! I did enjoy my break. I went to the beach and it was just what I needed! Thanks for your thoughts:~)
@ Patricia — A bushel of hugs is such a nice idea. It’s amazing how supportive you and other bloggers have been. I hoped you enjoyed kindlike.us.com. It is a great site. I have to go back and get my personal page up. Thanks again for your hugs:~)
@ Liara — I like the idea of you sharing in my adventure. As I took some time at my healing place — the beach — you must be feeling very relaxed right now. Also, I learned a lot, especially the importance of taking care of yourself. I really appreciate all the support you have given me and I’m glad your part of my blogging community:~)
@ Blue Bunny — I gave half of all those hugs to Izzy and she was in bliss for awhile. Thanks:~)
@ Blue Bunny — You get an “A” for persistence! Maybe only one can show up?
@ Julie — WELCOME BACK!!! I did exactly what you told me to do! I didn’t even take a computer with me while we at the beach. I just read, enjoyed the waves, the sounds of birds and kids playing…it was beautiful:~)
@ LL Cool Joe — Thanks for your comment about the break. I’m back now and it was wonderful as well just what I needed:~)
@ Positive Gangsta — Thank you and I always appreciate a hug. I also like the last line…you’re a cool guy:~)
@ Caity — Well, things are better now and thank your thoughts. I didn’t see the video of the guy hi-fiving people…that must have been a shock for some of the people hailing a cab. I think the nice thing about these types of videos is that they do reach out and touch us…sometimes at a point when we really need it. Also, if something makes you laugh or smile, then you’ve done something healthy for yourself:~)
@ Chris — I keep my cat and dog on as co-workers even though they really don’t do a lot of “work,” but sometimes just looking at them so comfy makes me take a deep breath and relax. I read some of your book while I was at the beach. It’s really good, Chris:~)
@ Naomi — I’m glad the video made you smile! I agree about the hugs and it’s nice to know that just watching a video can make you feel like you got a hug. You are so right about being more gentle and caring towards others and I add…towards ourselves, as well. JC and I did have a great break at the beach. It was just what I needed:~)
@ Carla — I used to be kind of shy about hugs, but I’ve learned that hugs, smiles and laughter are so good for you physically that I now try to pass them on to others whenever I can. It’s amazing to me how just a smile will turn someone’s day around. I know that this video and the comments I have done that for me:~)
@ Tony — That’s the cool thing about blogging…there’s a connection that we develop amongst the bloggers in our community. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve read someone post and it’s either been exactly something I needed or it picked up a thread of something I was writing about. I think that’s called synchronicity:~)
@ Davina — The beach was perfect. It rained, but only at night. We had a great time…the only problem was having to leave! Thanks for the hugs:~)
@ Serena — The re-entry is always a bit difficult, but I am so glad I took the time off. I do feel more refreshed and, like you, the beach always has a healing affect on me. Thanks for the hug:~)
p.s. I’m pleased you liked the video. Other people said they also seen it, but it was worth seeing again. I still watch it…it just makes me smile:~)
@ Barbara — Isn’t a wonderful video. As many people had already seen it, I’m glad it was your first time because it is a treat to watch. Also, thank you for your nice comment about the time off and for the hugs. I’m back and it was well worth it:~)
