Picture Story: What do you see?

Mushroom Pictures

Due to the rains we’ve had, mushrooms of all shapes and kinds have been erupting in my yard. I’ve found them fascinating and have taken way too many mushroom pictures.

What I enjoy about mushrooms is that they seem to just appear out of nowhere. One day, there’s nothing and the next, there’s this.

JC took this picture. He decided to join in my photographic study of the mushrooms in my yard and grabbed my camera to take his own picture.

Both of us really liked this picture because we each saw different things in it. I saw an elephant and he saw a person’s face.

Picture Story Challenge

I thought it would a perfect “what do you see” challenge. I haven’t done this type of challenge in awhile. Remember, the idea is to just just stare at this picture for a few minutes and then see what comes to your mind.

You are allowed to use any part of the picture. For example, at the top of the picture, I see what looks like a set of bottom teeth.

So, have at it.

What do you see in this picture?

You get bonus points for how many different things you can see.  Oh, and mushrooms don’t count:~)

Have fun, be creative and enjoy!

@ Lance — I can see the cow, but I didn’t see it before! That’s what’s fun about this type of challenge. When I read about the things others see and then look at the picture, I can see them too:~)

Fungi fascinate me, too. And sometimes, they sort of make me squeamish – but that’s the ones you see on trees that sort of look like brains – lol~

This was neat. I see Lance’s cow – with its tongue sticking out. I also see a heart up near the left, and in the centre I see a pair of lips making a little kiss.

I thought of an elephant right away too with out studying it. And I think of all the fungi I see on my walks this time of year. We have a huge mushroom farm located about 10 miles from us and we use lots of mushroom compost in our garden…we do not eat the freebies because we do not know which are edible and which just transpired!

I make a great portabella mushroom enchilada dish…see I am right back to food! :)

@ Patricia — How ’bout that? You and I saw the same thing. Yeah, I don’t know how safe it is to eat some fungi. A looooong time ago, friends I knew gave it a try and saw the most amazing things. Of course, they weren’t real. I prefer to look and take pictures of mushrooms.

By the way, I may not cook, but that doesn’t mean I don’t love to hear about food. So, you are welcome to share your delicious delights anytime:~)

Hi Sara – This is fun! I’m glad you told me to just stare it for a few minutes. After I relaxed into it, here’s what came:

The face of a camel
An alien being wearing glasses
A woman wearing a bikini – the top (the cups) are made from flowers, and she has a necklace hanging down on her chest

@ Patty — Okay, you win the most creative award for the bikini! I had to really look, but I can see this one, especially the necklace. Great suggestions and I’m pleased that you had fun:~)

p.s. You and SuZen are tied for seeing the most things in the picture!! What’s also interesting is that you both saw an alien.

Hi Sara.
Oh, I SO see a wild boar — it looks like he’s licking his lips and his tongue is curling up towards his nostrils. And I also see a dinosaur… perhaps a Stegosaurus. I haven’t seen mushrooms quite like these Sara; amazing!

@ Davina — Wow….I like the idea of the wild boar. I had to look a bit to see it, but the way you described him helped. The dinosaur is also cool!

The mushrooms were amazing in that I actually felt my yard might be taken over by them…there were so many. Sadly, they’re all gone now:~(

What fun! Love your creative spirit! I see leather scraps discarded by an artisan. I see my rejected failed pancakes piling up. I see an alien who’s mouth is going “ooo” – to rhyme with moo.

I think in 3′s – that’s it, done!

@ SuZen — Oh goodie…someone got pancakes!! I was the picture yesterday and that’s all I could was a bunch of pancakes. I also like the alien and the leather straps…you’re really good at this. I think you and Patty are tied for naming the most things seen in the picture:~)

I have to tell you as soon as I saw this picture, my mind called out “Shiitake mushrooms”!!!!

And now that is all I can see ;)

I am not sure if they are shiitake or not, but they sure look like them, and I love shiitake mushrooms, not just for their taste and texture, but their nutritional benefits are through the roof!

Gosh, I wish I had some growing in my area…

@ Evita — I don’t think these mushroom are Shiitake mushrooms…as a matter of fact, I doubt these should be eaten:~) As I’m not a great mushroom eater, I had to look up Shiitake mushrooms, but now seeing pictures of them, I can see you might think that these are Shiitake mushrooms. I appreciate your comment:~)

@ Jannie — WOW…five things — what good eyes you have, madam! Truly, I’m impressed. I had to study the picture again to see these. It took me time to see some of them, like the bride’s petticoat, but the one that amazed me the most was the lightening bolt. It’s there as clear as day, but I hadn’t seen it!

To date, you definitely have seen the most things in this picture and I think it will be challenge for anyone to beat this number. Good for you:~)

@ Wilma — I think you were the only one who saw a goat, but given how you described the ones you have I can see how you would see a goat.

I’m afraid when I was growing up, we weren’t very nice to the goat at my grandfathers farm. This old guy would eat ANYTHING. Knowing what I know today, I realize that feeding him the junk that we gave him probably wasn’t good for him, but we were kids and it was truly amazing to see what he’d consume. He was a rather cantankerous old guy — then again, maybe that’s because of what we fed him.:~)

I see John Merrick (a.k.a. the Elephant Man). And Lest that seem callous to say, let me add that I actually adore Mr Merrick. His life has been an inspiration to me.
