“The power of imagination makes us infinite.” ~ John Muir
Picture Game
Today I decided to try something new – a picture game. It’s called match a picture with a quote. The picture and quote above is an example. I chose this picture and quote because these flowers seemed to me to be a reflection of Nature’s infinite imagination.
Now, it’s your turn to play the game. It’s not hard and hopefully you’ll have fun with it. Here are the instructions for this picture game:
1) Look at the following four inspiring pictures below, labeled Picture A, Picture B, Picture C, and Picture D.
2) Pick ONE of the pictures you like.
3) Then go to “inspiring quotes” following the pictures. (There are more quotes than pictures to give you choices.)
4) Match your chosen picture with one of these quotes.
5) Briefly share the picture and quote you chose as well as your reasons for picking that particular picture and quote.
Want to go step further? You can choose more than one picture to match with a quote or match all the pictures. In addition, if you have a quote you like better than those on my list, feel free to use it. Be sure, however, to include it in the comment box.

“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be” ~ Lao Tzu quotes
I pair this quote with Picture D…the Statue. That was an easy one for me! We must let go of our perceived notion of what/who we are in order to allow “what I might be” to manifest in our lives. Holding on to the old will only keep us mired in the past. Life is movement and with movement comes change. So, I say…”Go with the flow”…;) and love who you are in the moment…the past no longer exists!
Loved your post! Kathy

I have to agree with Kathy – “When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be” ~ the Lao Tzu quote is a perfect match with the statue. It’s a letting go of all preconceived notions of what we should be or *think* we should be – fun!

Hi Sara! What fun! I’ll unite picture B – the bird nest – with “You can if you think you can.” Looking at a small twig the bird instinctively KNOWS it can be a nest, a home. The twig alone is nothing but a twig – but in that bird brain it is so much more! YAY for birds! What vision!

I liked the nest, too. What sprang to mind was, “Be it ever so humble, there’s no place like home.”
Nature is always inspiring and tenacious and amazing.

This is fun Sara! The picture that you presented with John Muir’s quote was perfect. “The power of imagination make us infinte.” The strands of the plant seem to reach to infinitum. You have enabled us to expand our imagination with “nature’s imagination” game.
Every year I observe mockingbirds making their nests. They fly back and forth with small wisps of materials that soon become homes for themselves and their future progeny.
So I chose “Even the weak become strong when they are united. ~ Johann Friedrich Von Schiller with the image of the nest. Alone the twigs, sticks, feathers, pine needles, straw, grass, flowers, etc. are weak, yet together they make a strong
home suitable for the incubation of the eggs. Nature is a grand teacher, she informs us that a united front with a purpose is a formidable force!
I choose B the nest with this “Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely.”~
The nest once a home is now empty with a leave in it and no longer a home.
For me that represents change, life moves on and growth is optional.
I could forever long for that nest and not choose to move on, or I look at the nest with appreciation from the place where I am now AND acknowledge my progress!

Hi Sara – I choose the picture of the nest with the quote, “when I let go of what I am…” For me, flying away from the nest signifies the transition to what I can become. And I find a lot of value in letting go as part of the cycle of renewal. This was fun. Thanks!

Hi Sara. I choose picture A and the quote “Even the weak become strong when they are united.” One of those flowers would look fragile on its own. That photo at the beginning of your post is gorgeous! And the quote you paired it up with is perfect.

@ Carol — I’m glad you found this game fun. I was certain how people would respond. I agree with you and Kathy that the Lao Tzu quote fits the statue. I can look at the picture and see so many things in the wood. Thanks for joining in the game:~)
Ha, ha this was fun Sara!
I choose picture C – the leaves with this quote:
6) “Life is change. Growth is optional. Choose wisely.”~ Karen Kaiser Clark
Nature, growth, water that all speaks to me of change and growth. It is our natural state of being I believe, and we have much to benefit from it if we allow ourselves the chance

@ SuZen — That’s a great choice and I loved what you said about the twig and birds. It is so true. They can use the most interesting things to create a nest for their babies. Thanks for playing the game:~)
@ Talon — Your quote really fits the bird’s nest! I totally agree about nature…I find the most amazing things in nature. It provides ample food for the creative spirit. Thanks for playing the game:~)
@ Patty — I love how so many people have picked the nest, but each quote they’ve chosen has been different. I also like your take on what a nest represents…there is a lot of value in learning when and dhow to leave a nest and it is a part of the cycle of renewal. Thank you so much for sharing this:~)
@ Davina — Thanks about the opening photo. It is unusual isn’t it. I took at a farm in Switzerland which grows many of the older plants and flowers and lots of medicinal ones. I liked your choice. These are unusual flowers and I agree that one by itself looks fragile, but as a group, they seem to have power. Thanks for sharing this:~)
@ Evita — I’m pleased you chose Picture C and added that particular quote! I liked these leaves because they had the tiny yellow flowers growing, which to be symbolized growth and change. I’m also happy that you had fun with this game. I wasn’t sure how it would go over, but it is fascinating to see how people picked different pictures and quotes….and their reasons for their choices. Thanks so much for sharing:~)
Picture B – “All is lost but hope.”
That’s a song lyric that has always held particular resonance for me. The image so beautifully brought it to mind.
