Guess what? Someone thinks I’m a Kreativ Blogger! YEAH. Come join me in the celebration! And if anyone can get us in the mood, it’s Kool and the Gang!! So, start the video, get up from your chair and do a little dance. Come on, it’s FUN:~)
Kreativ Blogger Award
I’ve just received this award from my new friend, Shay, of both Word Garden and Objets D’art. Shay is a wonderful poet and features her poetry on her site, Word Garden. It is beautiful, touching, witty and downright funny; a combination I simply cannot resist:~)
Her other site, Objets D’art, is best described in the subtitle:
“Reflections from a life devoted to elegance and beauty. Also, the wisdom of Bill Cosby, whose spirit lives inside my toaster.”
How can you resist a subtitle like this? This site features a diverse group of characters who are as funny as they are elegant. I highly recommend that you visit one or both of these sites!
New Rules to Challenge You
As part of receiving this award, you are supposed to list seven “interesting” things about yourself. Having received this award before, I thought it would be fun to change the game around a bit; to give you something challenging. I’m exercising my ‘Kreativ’ personality, plus… you know how I like a challenge:~)
Therefore, I am listing 10 things; seven of which are true and three are not. I’m challenging you to pick the three that are NOT true.
Whether or not you deem any of these things interesting… well, that’s up to you:~)
A Little About Me
Which three of the following do you think are not true?
- On my 13th birthday, instead of a cake, I had a watermelon with candles .
- When I was a kid, I jumped into an empty swimming pool and knocked myself out.
- I once won a hula hoop contest and because of this, got to meet Michael Landon (Little Joe) of Bonanza fame.
- My second toe is longer than my first, which according to legend means I’m bossy. Who me?
- I was once featured on The Weather Channel.
- When I was 15, I made a dress and won a sewing contest.
- I got lost in Pompeii, Italy with no money, no passport and was rescued by a very handsome Italian.
- As a kid, I participated in cattle roundups and drives on horseback.
- I was kicked out of the London Ritz Hotel for wearing “inappropriate” clothing.
- When I was five, a movie was made in my home town and I was selected to be one of the extras.
Award Nominations
Another rule for receiving the Kreativ Blogger Award is to nominate seven other bloggers for the award.
Hmm. One interesting fact about me that I DIDN’T put on the above list is that I don’t like to follow rules!
Therefore, instead of seven people, I am nominating three for this award. All three bloggers are relatively new to my site, as I am to theirs. However, I think their sites are very “Kreativ” and they deserve this award.
To be perfectly honest, I have a second motive for their nomination: I’m curious and hope to entice them to share more about themselves.
So, without further adieu, here are my Kreativ Blogger Award Nominees:
Keith at Easy Public Speaking
Hilary of Positive Letters…Inspirational Stories
Josh of World’s Strongest Librarian
Do visit their sites. I think you’ll greatly enjoy the variety of topics as well as the humor:~)

Love the video – brought back some fun memories!
Congrats, Sara! Well deserved!
Hmmm…of your 10 interesting facts, I tend to think number 9 isn’t true because I can’t imagine you behaving inappropriately and certainly not dressing that way (unless you wore your bathrobe and fuzzy slippers to high tea or something)…and I hope number 7 is true because that sounds like a real adventure!…and number 2 sounds true cuz kids do stupid things (especially if a dare is involved)…and so I’m not really sure which 3 aren’t true at all – lol!
.-= talon´s last blog ..Crooked =-.
@ talon — While I love that you thing of me as a very well behaved person, number 9 is actually TRUE. However, I do have an excuse…it wasn’t my misbehavior, but what I wore that got me kicked out. The London Ritz deems blue jeans as “inappropriate clothing” and as I wore them when I went to meet my daughter there for drinks. I was told I had to leave:~) Also, number 7 is true….it was adventure, but only in retrospect:~) I agree with you about kids doing stupid things!
Hi Sara .. Thank you .. I’m honoured for the award – I’m not good at these things .. ‘cos .. my mind’s in two or three other places .. but we’ll go see .. what comes out -
10, 5 and 2 are my guesses of incorrects … also a correct one that I absolutely adhere to .. is I don’t follow rules .. oh oh ..
Ah ah .. I have an idea for my next post that ties in nicely .. so Kreativ works ..
Thanks Sara .. good for you – I’ll be back to make sure I’m right – which I guess means I won’t be ..??!! Boo hoo .. xxoo
.-= Hilary´s last blog ..The Middle Ages of the web – ancient pathways, monastic steps, St David yesterday, St Chad today and lines of communication … =-.
@ Hilary — Well you got number 10!! Congratulations for that and also for the Kreativ Blogger award. I really like your site and I hope you will accept the challenge of the award.
Regarding the other selections to my challenge, Numbers 5 and 2 are actually true. The Weather Channel was filming in my town because of the severe cold we had one year…mind you I live in Florida, USA. They filmed me walking downtown, dressed in almost everything I owned that was warm. It might have been just a normal picture, except that the couple behind me were wearing short sleeved shirts and shorts….NO LIE:~) It took a long time to live that one down!
I also did jump into and empty swimming pool and knocked myself out…I like to say it explains a lot about me:~)
I just love how you break the rules, Sara! Congrats on the well-deserved award! Creativity seems to ooze out of you everytime I’m here. My guess is #1 isn’t true. I can’t imagine sticking candles in a watermelon as an easy task. Beyond that, I don’t have any other guesses. You strike me as a woman who isn’t afraid of doing anything.
@ Belinda — Thank you about the award and what you said about visiting my site:~)
Regarding your selection, you would think that number one isn’t true, wouldn’t you? No, it happened. I didn’t think I would ever forgive my loving mother. I still have a picture of me staring, rather unhappily, at my “cake.” These are sort of things that happen when when your birthday is in the middle of the summer. Ever since I reached adulthood, I have insisted on having a CAKE, a real one with icing and all the trimmings:~)
I’m gonna say 2,6, and 8 aren’t true. 6 is a wild guess. The other two just don’t sound true, but maybe they are. I CAN picture you getting thrown out for being inapropriate! LOL!
Thanks bunches for the kind words about my Word Garden, and Babs, Bitsy, RRRRRRamon, Maxie, Mabel, Judith, Enrique and Mother all send a big thank you from Objets D’art!
.-= Fireblossom32´s last blog ..Jesu, Je T’adore =-.
@ Shay — You got one — Number Six is not true!!! Well, it is partially true…I did make a dress in Home Ec, which we had wear to school one day. However, mine was so bad that it started to come undone during the school day and they had call my mom to bring me some other clothes for me to wear:~)
Numbers 2 and 8 are true. I did knock myself out from jumping into an empty swimming pool and I did participate in a cattle drive (see my reply to Patty for the explanation to this one).
I thank for your kind words and the nomination. I love your sites:~)
Hi Sara – Congratulations on your award! Couldn’t have happened to a more kreativ, wonderful person. Let’s see, I’m going to guess that you were not on the weather channel and did not participate in cattle drives (except, perhaps, in an alternate universe, where I think you were probably on a cattle drive when the mother of all storms hit and the big guns from the weather channel were sent in to catch the story of the century, where it was learned that cattle can swim a whole lot better than anyone suspected). The other one, I’m not so sure about. But let’s stick with swimming, so maybe the one about the swimming pool. But when I was five I actually thought I could walk on the bottom of a swimming pool and breathe water (my father put a stop to that notion), so why couldn’t you have jumped into an empty swimming pool???
.-= Patty – Why Not Start Now?´s last blog ..Please, Bore Me! =-.
@ Patty — This is so much FUN for me! Actually, I was on the Weather Channel and I did participate in cattle drives, but they were not connected in any way:~)
Regarding the Weather Channel, see my reply to Hilary for that explanation. The cattle drives were part of my childhood because my grandfather owned a cattle ranch. Believe it or not, there were cattle ranches in Florida!! We would visit and often participated in bringing the cattle in from their pastures for the vet. We didn’t do much, but try to stay on our horses. The real cowboys did most of the work:~)
Oh, Sara, this made me laugh and laugh!! Your bossy big toe? Your inappropriate clothing?? Your sewing contest fame???? Meeting Miachel Landon– one of my all-time favorite heroes?!?! I knew you were a super, super amazing and wonderful person, but now you’ve been elevated to the highest echelon of Absolutely Fabulous!!! I am evermore blessed to know you..
xoxo
@ Jannie — You have made me blush. The best thing anyone can tell me is that I made them laugh. Your compliment is even better because I consider you a master at making people laugh. Therefore, I am honored:~)
I wonder whether your Mom was taking a page from the Sesame Street Cookbook when she gave you the watermelon. I had that book as a kid, and one dish that looked really appetizing was a hollowed-out watermelon with lots of different fruits inside. I think the backstory involves Grover getting it as a birthday present as well.
@ Chris — Maybe Grover also had his birthday in the summer? That’s why I ended up stuck with the watermelon and candles:~)
Hi Sara,
Watermelon, jumping into an empty pool and an italian hottie…oh god…I so want to be you…just for number 7

Arent you an interesting gal
Next time youre lost and have an inkling of a handsome guy coming over to rescue you …please pretty please call me..I will trade places with you in a jiffy
You know…from what i think i know you a bit..i actually think youre capable of all those 10 things….so i give up….I dont know which of these three are untrue
And reading the comments i think i know which ones arent..but that would be cheating right….
Much love to you…naughty little minx you
Z~
@ Zeenat — Thank you:~) When I first sat down to write this post, I wondered how I would come up with seven things. Then I realized “interesting” could also mean “quirky” and that made things a lot easier for me….I’ve done a lot of really quirky things in my life!
Regarding the handsome Italian guy, I think if I saw him again I would hide. I was a such a wreck by the the time I found him that it’s embarrassing to this day to think about it. I definitely did not come across as the “beautiful lady in distress”:~)
As far as reading the comments, I purposely told people when they got one right. I think it’s part of the fun…kind of like a “comment scavenger hunt.” You get to use the clues that other people leave behind:~)
Hi Sara .. post still being written – just had to come by and see what’s what & remember what etc! Oh yea .. right with one, wrong with two .. oh well .. my comment is on water melons ..
I thought that was a lovely idea .. water melons in the pool with your friends and blowing candles out .. guzzling the melon – perhaps you have them too often .. we did that in South Africa once .. actually it was the only real place to get the water melons cool .. fun times ..
Post coming sometime soon today I hope .. bye for now .. H
.-= Hilary´s last blog ..The Middle Ages of the web – ancient pathways, monastic steps, St David yesterday, St Chad today and lines of communication … =-.
@ Hilary — On most occasions, I might agree with you about watermelons, but I love my sweets:~) Cake, icing and ice cream are a definite favorites of mine. I will be looking for your post:~)
Hi Sara .. done .. but I only nominated one .. but acknowledged you, Keith and Josh .. wanted to put your avatar there .. but couldn’t .. but everyone will see it – the cool avatar .. bye .. have a good rest of the weekend ..
The bore – Hilary .. go see!!
.-= Hilary´s last blog ..Fussbudget .. a bore, or a boar … =-.
@ Hilary — I’ve already visited this post and enjoyed it very much. I am pleased that you are pleased about the award:~)
Congratulations on your award. I love the facts. I always love hearing random things about my blog friends. I never would’ve guessed number 9! That’s funny!
.-= Caity´s last blog ..I got a postcard from France! =-.
I purposely waited until now so that I could correctly name the points you were fibbing about… and thus appear to be an astute judge of character and wise beyond my years.
Oh.
Okay, so I shot myself in the foot there. Oh well…
Very entertaining post, Sara, and congratulations on the fine award! You are certainly “kreativ” indeed!
.-= Tony Single´s last blog ..Coal Black Kitty =-.
@ Tony — So, I’m assuming you read my latest post, Picture Story: I’ve Got a Secret, and realized I identified the three fibs:~) I still appreciate the visit and your kind comments about me be “kreativ.”
