thanksgiving break

by Sara on June 10, 2011

Taking a break

For the next two weeks, I will NOT be out and about the blogsphere:~( I need to step back and take care of some long promised home projects and spend some time with family. I will not be posting or commenting during this time.

This is difficult for me to write. I want to add “maybe” or some other “foot in the door” word to indicate I might change my mind. I spend so much time with you, my readers, it’s very hard for me to imagine not visiting your sites or reading your comments, even for a mere two weeks:~)

Sharing thanks

I figured a way around my hesitation; I’m leaving this post, Thankful Moments, as an open post. When I completed this list, I felt good. I liked sharing the many thankful moments in my life.

Now, I invite you to add your own thankful moments to my list via the comment box, but only if you want to and if you follow the rule — keep reading:~) I will enjoy returning to read your “thankful moments.”

In addition, you are welcome take this idea and use it at your own site. Make your own list of “thankful moments” and share them. Then, pass it on by encouraging your readers to create their own.

Sharing “thankful moments” is like planting seeds for growing a more loving world. Each thankful moment you write sends energy out to others and reading someone’s thankful moments only adds to our own:~)

The Rule

I realize lots of people have done “thankful moments,” but these have a rule to them. It’s only one rule, but it’s important! Each line you write about thankful moments must contain only four words!

You can use any style of writing – poetry, free verse, songs, a list/collection – whatever suits your needs, as long as you stick to Rule One.

Here’s my list of “thankful moments” and I’ll see again in two weeks….:~)

Four-Word Thankful Moments

A flower bud unfolding

Birds flying in formation

Geese crossing the road

Brief moments of awe

A soul-warming hug

Evening light through leaves

Happiness bubbling into laughter

An old dog sleeping

Dark clouds promising rain

Breezes on hot days

The sound of sprinklers

Cotton sheets just washed

An unexpected child’s hug

The feeling of completion

The excitement of beginnings

Singing in the car

Wind chimes making music

When the moment’s right

Eating a comfort food

Waking from a nap

Reading good books again

Smelling sugar cookies baking

Touching a lover’s skin

Words that come together

The flash of fireflies

Okay, it’s your turn. What are your four-word thankful moments?

p.s. I will not be replying, but please know I am thankful for every word you will share or have shared at this site:~)

Arriving here awakens smile.
Knowing what to do.
Hummingbird rests by window.
Sleeping puppy shares sigh.

Kissing my daughter’s forehead.
Sweet bites of chocolate.
Surrounded by my garden.
A good night’s sleep.
Learning bits of history.
Writing down my thoughts.
Working with my hands.
Starting new each day:)

Hi Sara — thanks for writing something that felt risky or uncomfortable for you, and admitting that as well — I think that’s the essence of personal development, turning toward as opposed to running from discomfort, and I appreciate how you do that on your blog.

Here are four words: I’m glad Sara’s back!

The Sara’s Back post won’t allow comments – something about getting the dreaded 404 message. :)

Wait ! I was a bit naughty up there!! :) Some plumbers actually wear their pants up just under their armpits, as in Shay’s latest poem, the one about Zeus. :)

Oh, and a third one on the 404 error in previous post…

I still love you tho — maybe more than ever now because of your 404 and your human-ness. :) :)
