A Crack in the Sky

Uh Oh!

There’s a crack in the evening sky.

The scientists cannot explain it.

It just appeared one evening.

They’ve sent probes, but none have returned.

You are a Sky Reader, the select few who know how to read the skies.

You have been called on to find out about this sky crack.

If you don’t find some answers, the leaders of the world will destroy the crack.

So, Sky Reader, do your thing.

What caused this crack in the sky?
How can it be repaired or should it be repaired?
What, if anything, is behind the crack in the sky?

The world is waiting for your answers.

Wow – what an awesome photo! It really DOES look like a crack in the sky! Of course it’s just a weird set up of clouds, right? :)

@ Susan — NO! It is really is a crack in the sky. That’s why the scientists are begging for help to figure out what to do with this sky crack:~)

JUST KIDDING!

Well, that is one killer photo, Sara! Love it! My silly answer is that the sky is really one HUGE plumber and we are seeing the legendary “plumber’s crack.” I told you it was a silly answer. On a more poetic note, I have always thought things like that crack was the “crack between the worlds” where one can, at certain times, like dawn and twilight, visit other dimensions. I have even put that in several of my poems. At any rate, it is a beautiful and mysterious photo.

@ Jean LOL and somehow writing LOL does not capture how loudly I laughed at your comment. I LOVE IT! That is the one about the “plumber’s crack.”

Regarding the “crack between two worlds:” That’s something I always notice about sunset (since I seldom see the sun rise), it does look sometimes like we get a glimpse of another world — perhaps it is, as you say, another dimension.

Thanks about the photo and you know I appreciate both the silly and the poetic parts of you:~)

Awesome shot, Sara. Magnificent.

All I can think is that the photo be entitled, “The Heavens Open”

@ Talon — I like that title. It really was an amazing thing to see, especially as it changed. I wish I could gotten closer to full crack, but my camera was resistant. Thank you for your nice words about the photograph:~)

That’s a portal to another dimension, of course! We are about to be visited by aliens!

@ Kelvin — Okay, you know what this means, right? The puppet masters must all get together to create a special show that will scare the aliens away. You can get some of those magical puppets that shoot and throw fire and things like that. I was very impressed with the video up your site:~) I really think the aliens will turn tail and run back through the crack:~)

Seriously, I’ve grown to really love puppetry from visiting your site. I never appreciated it until I watched your videos and the videos of performances. It truly is magical:~)

Hi Sara .. you’ve got a few great answers there – but the photo is just beautiful. I love the sky when it looks like that ..

The painter took up his brushes … and painted the dark palette of colours, then deciding he needed light – let the light in .. but more than that .. he opened the top up – exposing our vision towards greater heights …

The artist in him likes to dream .. should he change the colours – should they be dark greens with a fiery glow, across a silvery field …

As night falls he ambles home determined to finish his stormy work tomorrow, or will it have a new story line to it – with new hues to behold, a new scene almost certainly …

He fantasises as he stumbles in the darkening glow before the wolf moon rises to brighten his way – new thoughts, new colours abound in his creative mind …

… til tomorrow then ….

Cheers Hilary

@ Hilary — WHOA….you go, girl!!! That’s writing I love. You had me seeing this artist and his creation and “then the wolf moon rises to brighten his way…” I loved it. I wish you did this more often. You really are good at just letting your imagination go and then the words just evoke such a feeling.

Thank you for sharing this!!!

Someone on the other side accidentally swished with their lightsaber. That’s what I think caused the crack. :)

Beautiful photo, Sara!

This is an awesome picture! Nature put on a good show with this “skyquake”. She shook the sky and created this crack in the clouds. You can see her smiling from behind the scenes.

I love the photo too Sara! I’d like to think the crack is a way to get back to the past. It shouldn’t be fixed, at least until I’ve had a chance to visit all the eras I missed:)

Well… Leonard Cohen says, rather — sings “there’s a crack in everything. That’s how the light gets in.”

Yep, Jeanne took my idea above… The plumbers union of course.

But Blue Bunny says, the sky forgot to pay its electricity bill, and the crack is the power finally coming back on.

:)

BEAUTIFUL shot, Dear Sara!!

Sara, this is a beautiful picture. I don’t think we should try to fix it. Sometimes things are perfect just the way they are (cracks and all) and this is one of those times. Thank you for sharing such a beautiful sight.
