This is a picture I took at the beach. These trees stood by themselves. They reminded me of people having a conversation. All they needed were beach chairs, umbrellas and a cooler.
Your Challenge
Write a brief dialogue between these two trees. Consider these questions to get you started, but you don’t have to use them:
- Are they happy with each other?
- Are they annoyed at the woman who took their picture?
- Are they kids about to throw a sand ball?
The Extra Credit Challenge
Use all of the following words in your dialogue: (make it easy on me and capitalize the words when you use them)
- taunt
- tiger
- Tasmania
- teach
- temptation
Use your imagination. Try to keep it to no more than 150 words.

Left Tree: “Dusk is my favorite time of day. After the ship masts clear the harbor I can see clear to Tasmania.”
Right Tree: “Ahh, TASMANIA. My great aunt lived there. Every day TIGER cubs would climb her to TAUNT their mothers who didn’t have the energy to follow.”
Left Tree: “It’s funny how parents TEACH their children to get boring and dull as they get older by the examples they set. Why not climb the trees at any age?”
Right Tree: “I guess the TEMPTATION to be wild gets squelched as one gets older, even in wild animals.”
Fun Sara!

@ Giulietta — Wow. I’m impressed. Great dialogue AND you used all the words. In addition, you made a very good point with your dialogue…we should “climb trees at any age.”
WELL DONE!!!!
Branche: Did you see what Mapel was wearing?
Lief: I know a TIGER stripped bikini at her age! She does have great stems and the TEMPTATION is always there.
B: But she looks like a TASMANIA Birch! Someone needs to TEACH how to dress appropriately at different ages – and with so many rings?
Lief: Now the beach grass has begun a TAUNT and all eyes will be on Mapel. We better join the party or be left high and dry in the sand. Others will think we already put down roots. This is just too much!

Thanks for taking on the CHALLENGE!
Just stopped by to say hi and say that I enjoyed the stories.

The one on the left is telling a joke to the one on the right, who is laughing. That’s the simple scene I see.

@ Fireblossom — I wonder what the joke was? Thanks for the visit:~)
I see the one on the left was leaning in to tell the one on the right something. The one on the right was so surprised that it threw up both arms in the air.
Actually, on a second thought, the one on the right was the one telling the story. The story was an exciting one, so he was gesturing with his arms while the one on the left leaned in while listening with utmost attentiveness.

@ Kelvin — Looking at the picture I can see what you’re staying. The limbs do look like arms and it does look one tree is leaning in, as if listening:~)
Hi Sara!
“You know you TAUNT me, you TIGER you!
“Haha, a little TEMPTATION may TEACH you a lesson after you threatened to leave me and go to TASMANIA!”
Hugs,

@ Suzen — You’re is probably the shortest, but you got all the words in and it made sense. I loved it:~)
Have you ever seen the short film, Rooted? That’s what this picture reminds me of!
Thus, watch the video before reading my comment so you can understand it. :p
I can’t do a dialogue, because trees cannot speak. They use the way their branches sway in the wind to communicate with the world around them. Other trees do the same. They can watch others fall in love, yet they don’t actually get to love and experience love for themselves. I think it kind of portrays the laws on love in the USA government and most of the world’s point of view. These trees are in love, but never are they able to actually touch.
Liza´s last [type] ..Pain
@ Liza — It’s interesting how common it is for trees to grow right next to each and even intertwine themselves. On a walk recently, I passed a group of trees and all their branches touched in some way. Perhaps love always find a way of expressing itself if given the chance.
Thanks for the visit:~)
I love the stories that people are coming up with. Here is my dialogue:
Rootie–”Oh, Tootie! I love your hair, You look just like a Tasmanian Devil! I am feeling such a Temptation to get mine done exactly like that!”
Tootie—”Well, Thanks, I think, Rootie. Yes that hair dresser of mine is quite a Tiger when it comes to aggressive styling of one’s hair. He will Taunt you until you give in to what HE thinks you should have. He gave me a Mohawk last time and dyed it purple, I did grow to like it eventually but at first I was horrified!”
Rootie—”Oh, I am not sure I can deal with a person like that. Will you Teach me to do it? I am sure you watched and saw how he did it? Besides, what if he thinks I would look better with another style. I could not deal with that! I could not abide a Mohawk!”
Tootie—-”Well, I could try, but I am not sure I will get it right.”
Rootie—-” Well, I am willing to take the chance with you rather than have any Temptation to Teach myself to yield to that terrible Tiger of Taunts! I would rather move to Tasmania!”
The absolute end!
@ Jean — LOL You made sure I knew you got all five words, didn’t you? This was an excellent dialogue. I liked the idea of using “hair” as your central focus…it fits those trees very well. This was fun. Thanks for participating and making me laugh:~)
Hi Sara .. I’m really upset my comment didn’t take – I’d commented after Kelvin .. I must have done something wrong .. and I typed it in Word and copied over .. bother – I didn’t keep it!!
I’ll try and come back and rewrite … cheers Hilary

I’m late to this party, Sara-but I think the tree on the left is saying, “How much do you love Sara’s blog?” And the tree on the right is saying “This much!!!”
Happy Friday, my dear, and have a great weekend!!
And if the temptation to taunt a Tasmania tiger should strike, I hope you will blog instead. You always have something interesting to teach us or tell us-like the story of the intertwined trees:)

@ Valerie — You are so nice. Thank you very much:~)
Yes, I can picture them talking to each other — I think the tree on the left is the husband trying to calm down the tree on the right, which is his wife, whose arms are raised in frustration. She looks like she has even pulled up a root to walk off stage right.

Hi Sara,
It’s been a long time, and a lot of posts in your blog that I need to catch up with. I cannot promise to comment in those that I’ve missed, but I’ll be reading them to see what you have been up to. I’m sure there’s a lot that has happened!
About your challenge: To me the tree in the left is annoying the tree in the right, who is trying to cover its ears, although I like Kelvin’s approach about the story telling tree.
Raul
PS. Hugs for you!

That is a beautiful picture, Sara. I’m not sure what they’re saying. They are whispering, but I think they may be celebrating a special occasion. It looks like they are raising their glasses in a toast.
