Life Coaching Is…

How would you to like to take your life from being just okay to something great?

How would it feel to be confident about where you are going and how you’ll get there?

What if you could change your life so it fits who you really are and what you want from your life??

This is what life coaching is about. It’s a partnership between you and your coach, which is active and flexible. It focuses on the future and the positive changes you want to make in your life. The reasons for seeking coaching are varied. For example, a life coach may help you get through a job transition, feel more fulfilled in your work or family life, make a difficult decision, achieve a life-long goal or just get moving again when you feel stuck.

How does coaching differ from therapy, mentoring and consultation?

While coaching pulls from a variety of disciplines, including therapy, mentoring and consultation, it takes a different approach to working with people. In coaching, the collaborative partnership between you and your coach is critical. The coach is not the expert, telling you what to do. Instead, you are seen as the “pilot,” determining the destination and the route to it, while your coach is the “co-pilot,” helping you stay on course, overcome obstacles, and keep moving forward towards your destination.

How does a coach work?

A professional life coach works with you to help you identify what you want to achieve and then develop an action plan for getting there. They use skills such as listening, asking powerful questions, identifying strengths, celebrating successes, and ensuring accountability to help you reach your goals.

But there also a deeper aspect to coaching that transcends goals and action plans. This is where you and your coach examine your vision for the future, acknowledge your hopes and dreams, and honor your unique values and strengths.

How do coaching sessions work?

Most coaching sessions are over the phone. You don’t have to leave your office or home to meet with your coach. This can save you time and money. Coaches usually offer a complimentary session so you can get an idea of how coaching works, the personal style of the coach and whether the two of you are a good fit.
